Meet the Team

A’Maya Ettien (she/her)

Licensed Midwife

A’Maya was born at home and came to the path of midwifery after giving birth to her two children at home with midwives. She graduated from the National Midwifery Institute and became a Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife in 2008. She has provided midwifery care in high-volume birth centers in Texas and California. She has attended nearly 1000 community births and trained approximately 30 midwifery students throughout her career. A’Maya strongly believes that birthing families should be respectfully supported in having a safe, healthy and positive birthing experience.

Alia Barnes (she/her)

Birth Assistant | Childbirth Educator | Doula

Alia has been fascinated by birth for as long as she can remember. She came into work as a doula in 2020 after learning about perinatal mortality rates for Black mothers and babies. After attending her first home birth, she knew that midwifery was where she needed to be. Alia has attended out-of-hospital births throughout the Bay Area as a midwifery student, birth assistant, and doula. She is passionate about home birth because she truly believes there is no place like home. She is currently on the path to become a Nurse Midwife.
